More about HYUNDAI Monitors

Besides cars, Hyundai also makes notebooks and LCD monitors. In fact, it makes some of the most reasonably priced monitors on the market today. Their monitors have the standard plastic panel frame with a 3/4 inch bezel on top and bottom and a 1/2 inch bezel on the sides with the standard onboard speakers.

The displays are unremarkable in appearance and have a regular neck and base that are reasonably stable. Most of the lower-end models only have an analog input but some of the higher-end models have a DVI input as well. The display, headphones and speaker jacks are easy to access. The height is not adjustable so no sleeves to hide wires are necessary. Like most lower-end displays, you have only limited tilting capability. The more the display costs the better the tilting range. Most models have the ability to be attached to a VESA swing arm or wall mount but most models cannot swivel nor do portrait to landscape flipping.

Most Hyundai monitors have on-screen menus that are nicely organized with descriptions appearing as you select the icon. Some of the monitors have an automatic color temperature adjustment which is unusual on LCD monitors but doesn’t seem to provide much improvement to the average performance of the monitors. Most of the monitors have a 1280 x 1024 minimum resolution at 60 Hz refresh rates. The colors to gray to black transitions are not as smooth as the more expensive monitors.

The overall performance for the picture quality was average which does not provide good playback for DVDs and the tiny speakers are weak and tinny. In other words as a basic computer monitor, the Hyundai models are fine especially for people on a tight budget, but I would not recommend them for watching movies or gaming. Although the company’s toll-free tech-support is available for the lifetime of the product line and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. central time (GMT-6), the Hyundai Web site only offers an e-mail form for sales and support queries and a few driver downloads.
