ACER Driver Development Team

Part of the company’s success is due to the diligence of its corporate leaders which included Jim Wong (Senior Corporate VP), Walter Deppeler (Deputy Senior VP), Gianfranco Lanci (President and CEO), and J.T. Wang (Chairman). Wang assumed the post of Acer’s Chairmanship upon the retirement of Shih in December of 2004.

The company’s initial focus was as a consultant for microprocessor technology and distributor for electronic components. Its mission was to break down barriers that exist among people and the technological world. Employees were offered company stocks during the first ten years of operation under founder Stan Shih. This move made Acer one of the more popular technology-based companies in Taiwan.

Emerging Technologies Led Acer Drivers Evolution

Acer began maximizing its distribution channels in 2000 by shifting its market strategy. The company took notice of emerging technologies and focused its efforts on the delivery not only of fresh but also affordable technology to the end user. This tactic produced a worldwide presence for all Acer manufactured and distributed products. Its presence also began to be felt in various industries within the IT market. The company expansion resulted in a decrease in the labor force along with reduced revenues. This was brought about by the need to free additional capital for Acer’s continued worldwide expansion programs.

Acer Brand Operations became the Acer Drivers Brand of Today

Within the same year, the company established the ABO (Acer Brand Operations) and the DMS (Design and Manufacturing Services). This effectively separated the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) division from its product branding business. Acer’s role as an electronics product distributor in the Taiwan computer market began with its acquisition of Texas Instruments. This also gave the company the capability of creating desktop computer systems and mobile computers. From this beginning, the company now boasts of a product portfolio that includes LCD monitors and televisions, projectors, storage devices, mobile phones, mobile computers, computer servers, and desktop systems. Some of its more popular products are the Aspire Series, TravelMate, Ferrari Series, Altos Series, and the House Projector Series.

Acer Drivers Global Expansion

To date, the company’s worldwide expansion continues with the acquisition of its US-based computer manufacturing rival Gateway Incorporated in October of 2007. By January of 2008, Acer had successfully taken over 75% of the stocks of Packard Bell Holdings which is another competitor in the IT industry. These acquisitions further upheld Acer’s standing in the international IT industry.
